I attached the display, Adafruit Trinket and battery holder onto a retractable leash body and use it at night when I walk the dog along the highway.

I used the same program from the DreamCoat for this 12 pixel circular display, in fact the display comes from the DreamCoat which I thought had "too much". I cut the program down quite a bit so it only contains a few lines.I attached the display, Adafruit Trinket and battery holder onto a retractable leash body and use it at night when I walk the dog along the highway.

The battery holder holds two CR2032 button cells, in series for output of 6 volts which the Trinket can tolerate. A switch on the side is very handy for turning the light on and off. I bought these from eBay or Amazon, my source for all these kinds of parts.
